Welcome to our website

The Independent Resource Centre aims to reduce poverty and address issues underpinning financial exclusion by delivery of its services.  We provide advice to everyone, regardless of their circumstances, but specifically aim to assist: those on low incomes; those with unmanageable debts; those out of work; and those who are eligible for benefits. 

We provide free advice and support from 9am - 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am - 15:30pm on Friday at 627 Dumbarton Road, Dalmuir, Clydebank.  In addition we provide disability behaviour support and advice, focusing on autism, at our office in 445 Dumbarton Road on Monday and Thursday mornings.

We also provide a number of outreach surgeries, as follows:

Knowes Housing Association, 10 Field Road, Faifley:
Every Wednesday 10am - 2pm

Faifley Housing Association, Skypoint, Lennox Drive:
Every Thursday 10am - 1pm

Clydebank Housing Association, 77-83 Kilbowie Road:
Every Thursday 9:30am - 1pm*
Apart from the last Thursday of every month

Centre 81, 2-16 Braes Avenue, Clydebank:
Last Thursday of every month 10am - 1pm

Co-ordinator - Mary Collins
Mary runs the Centre, sourcing funding and managing staff.

Welfare Rights Officer – Janice Dickson
Janice provides welfare rights advice, trains new volunteers and represents clients at appeal tribunals.

Debt/Money Adviser – Kirsty Cullen and Nicola Taylor
Kirsty provides debt and money advice, including arranging payment plans and helping people consider and apply for bankruptcy.  Nicola provides debt and money advice.

Welfare Rights Workers – Dorothy Duffy and John Muir
Dorothy and John provide welfare rights advice, including benefit checks and applications.

Statistical Information Worker – Margaret Sim
Lisa writes the Centre’s reports, supplies statistics to funding bodies and manages the website.

Financial Administrator – Jennifer McAuley
Jennifer deals with the day-to-day administration of the Centre, including utilities.


Receptionist – Catherine Gray and Pauline Smith
Catherine and Pauline provide reception cover and book appointments.

Disability Behaviour Advice – Pam Smith
Pam provides advice and support for disability behaviour at our second office, 455 Dumbarton Road, which is equipped with a sensory room.

Data Input – Maureen Petticrew
Maureen converts our client data from our paper-based forms to an electronic database.
